The Gulag Within – 24-bit / 96kHz

The Gulag Within is a work for mixed choir (SATB) exploring the psychological and philosophical dimensions of internal constraint and self-imposed limitation. Through modernist harmonic language and clear structural direction, the piece articulates tensions between imposed systems and inward boundaries.

The recording was originally released on Voices of Earth and Air, Vol. III (Navona Records, 2020; NV6299), a collection of contemporary choral works featuring composers Kong-Yu Wong, Scott Anthony Shell, William Copper, Deborah Anderson, Theresa Koon, Hans Bakker, Santiago Kodela, Christopher J. Hoh, and Garth Baxter.

Performed by the Kühn Choir of Prague under the direction of Lenka Navrátilová, this edition is presented as a high-resolution 24-bit / 96kHz studio master.
